For my PR Publications class we had to create a brochure for our client. The client I chose for the semester is Zeta Tau Alpha, my sorority.

Instead of picking an specific event as a topic for the brochure I chose to do an overview of the organization as a whole. The target public is incoming GSU freshmen women who could be potential new members to the organization.

The brochure touches on various topics such as, sisterhood, the history of Zeta Tau Alpha, philanthropy, and national symbols of the organization. It also states Zeta Tau Alpha’s creed and purpose, to give the potential new members a better grasp of what the group is all about.

Thanksgiving with ZTA

Every year Zeta Tau Alpha has a Thanksgiving dinner date night. All the sisters dress up, bring a date or friend, and come up to the Zeta house for a home cooked Thanksgiving meal.

This tradition is not only fun, but a great way for the girls to stregthen their sisterhood. It’s a reminder for them to be thankful for their chapter and for each other.

The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha don’t think of their organization as just a sorority, they consider it more of a family. What better way to kick off the holiday season, and take a little retreat from school, than to come together as sisters and enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner?!

Think Pink, Drink Pink is a breast cancer awareness event put on by Zeta Tau Alpha once a semester at GSU. Pink lemonade stands are set up all over campus on hot days to pass out tasty bright pink lemonade. Not only does it quench the students thirst, but it a great way to pass out breast cancer awareness cards and ribbons.

The goal of this event isn’t to raise funds. Zeta’s mission is to promote early detection methods, and encourage women, and men, to check themselves regularly. Women especially need to get mammogram screenings once a year as a precautionary measure.

So if you see any Zetas on campus with their lemonade stands set up, stop by, and get something to drink! They’d love to talk about ways to help support breast cancer awareness and education, as well as other events to get involved in!

ALSO–Don’t forget– HELP GSU SOAR!! VOTE FOR MOLLY MOORE– GSU homecoming queen 2009!!!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This year marks its 25th anniversary. What can you do to help??

There are thousands of ways to get involved with breast cancer education and awareness. From simply buying a product that is donating money to breast cancer every time you purchase their merchandise, to participating in Race for the Cure or Relay for Life runs.

Visit websites such as ww5.komen.org, or www.zetataualpha.org to find out other ways to help. You could go as far as volunteering at an event to simply wearing a pink shirt, or pink ribbon. Tell a friend or family member about the great ways you can help, and donate. You should also encourage your friends, and yourself, to get regular mammogram screenings to implement early detection methods.

This is your call to action. Get up, and go fight for the end of breast cancer. There are millions of women, and men, waiting for your help. Research has come a long way over the last couple of decades, but it still has a long way to go. It is up to you to help find a cure. The time to start is now!

Zetas Going Green

Not only do the women in Zeta Tau Alpha help raise awareness and money for Breast cancer but they’re also helping their community in other ways. Like the rest of the world, there is a huge concern for keeping our environment clean and healthy right here in Statesboro. So what did the girls of ZTA do to help? Created the group Zetas Going Green!!

Zetas Going Green is a collection of women, within the Zeta chapter on campus, who are encouraging and developing better ways to stay green. They’ve banned the use of styrofoam cups, less to-go styrofoam lunch and dinner plates, and are now using recycling bins in the dining and chapter hall.

They have also gone a step further. The head of the group, Mandy Still, sends out a weekly tip on how you can try to stay green at home. The tip is sent out via Facebook, and is sent to every member of the chapter. The tips range from conserving energy and water to starting a recycling bin, or compost heap. Zetas Going Green is just one more step local Zetas are taking to help improve the lives of others in the community.
